Adele credits Mary J. Blige, Kanye West for new sound on 21

February 2, 2011
When Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter Adele returns to music with her next album, "21," due in 2011, music fans will find music inspired by the sounds of Kanye West and Mary J. Blige.

According to Adele, who will release the album's lead single "Rolling In The Deep" November 15, West, Blige, Lady Antebellum and Mos Def all played a part in the creative process of recording "21".

"I discovered lots of artists I'd never heard of, particularly Wanda Jackson, Allison Krauss, Yvonne Fair, Andrew Bird, Neko Case, Lady Antebellum and Steel Drivers who I fell in love with. Then I delved in to more from artists I've loved forever - Mary J. Blige, Kanye West, Elbow, Mos Def, Alanis Morissette, Tom Waits and Sinead O'Connor," Adele said in a statement earlier this week. "There's something in every single one of these artists that have really really inspired 21."

Just last year, 2009, Adele won Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the Grammy Awards and a Critics Choice Award at the BRIT Awards.

Rick Rubin, Paul Epworth, Ryan Tedder, Dan Wilson and Fraser T. Smith are among those who have contributed to "21".

"21" is due in stores February 22.

Mary truly inspires all! I'd love to see Adele write for Mary & I would love for Mary to work with the person who directed Adele's  "Rolling in The Deep" music video. The music video is a true form of expression, I think it's about time Mary go back to that type of music video.

I agree. I thought about "My Life" when I heard Someone Like You. Really moves you like Mary J. I'd live to hear a collab.
