Mary J Blige closes out Essence Music Festival with sold out show

Mary J. Blige took the stage for the final act of the evening at the 17th annual Essence Music Festival on Sunday night. Performing for a sold out arena, the fans were ready to hear her best music. The entertainer isn’t a stranger to the festival as this was her 10th performance on stage, but her first time in actually closing the show at the Superdome.

Kicking out all the hits from her song catalog, the entertainer gave some classic tunes as well as some new singles from her latest album. The audience in New Orleans loved every minute of it and on many of the songs took to singing along with the entertainer.

Blige was especially kind to her fans and repeatedly thanked them for supporting her during the rough times in her career.

"Thank you so much for having faith in me, for buying my records when nobody cared. I love you so much," Mary J Blige told the audience.

The annual tradition of the Essence Music Festival had the audience appreciating different entertainers. Kanye West, Usher and Jennifer Hudson took the main stage to perform, but other entertainers were presenting at smaller stages around the festival.
