Mary J. Blige previews new scent during Essence

R&B singer Mary J. Blige expands her reach into the fragrance industry with the launch this summer of My Life Blossom, her follow-up to last year's debut scent, My Life.

On Saturday, Blige will preview the new fragrance during an appearance at a Carol's Daughter pop-up location in New Orleans' French Quarter. Blige, who is in New Orleans for a Sunday closing night performance at the Essence Music Festival, also will attend a block party outside the temporary boutique and meet-and-greet fans.

Blige collaborated with Carol's Daughter founder Lisa Price to produce My Life and did so again to create the new scent, which leads with "bright florals of gardenia petals, mandarin, white freesia and orange flower."
My Life Blossom will be available exclusively through HSN and its website, www.hsn.com, beginning Aug. 13. For every purchase of the new perfume, a dollar will be donated to Blige's charity, The Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now, which helps women "reach their individual potential through the support of scholarships, grants and programs."

This is the eighth year that Carol's Daughter has opened a temporary location over the 4th of July weekend in New Orleans where thousands flock to participate in the Essence festival. Customers also will have opportunities to meet the newest faces of Carol's Daughter — Solange Knowles, Cassie and Selita Ebanks — as well as celebrities including Trey Songz, the Braxton Sisters and Hornets point guard Chris Paul.
The store will be open Friday through Sunday at La Belle Galerie from 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
