September 5, 2012

The Queen of Hip Hop Soul liberated the city of Houston as her Liberation Tour made a stop at the Houston Toyota Center Sunday, Sep. 2.

Known for putting together an engergized live performance, Mary J Blige didn’t disappoint as she floated through her many hits including “Family Affair,” “Real Love,” “Mr. Wrong” and Grammy award winning “Be Without You.” In case you are unsure about catching your city’s tour stop, here are four reasons why you should consider seeing the Liberation Tour:

2. Melanie Fiona. Melanie Fiona is also apart of the Liberation Tour line-up promoting her latest, acclaimed album The MF Life. Born and raised in Toronto, Melanie Fiona had her US break in early 2009 with “Give It To Me Right.” The song later peaked at 57 on Billboard charts.

3. The comeback of D’Angelo. How could one forget the seduction that is “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” video? Dressed in nothing but the cornrows on his head, D’Angelo seduced women around the world. Then at the blink of an eye, after winning 2 Grammy Awards for his album Voodoo, he disappeared. 12 years later D’Angelo has returned—reason enough to see the Liberation Tour.

4. Witness why Mary J Blige is the queen of Hip Hop Soul. When Mary j Blige scored her first hit in 1992 no one would have imagined that after 20 years, 9 Grammys, and 50 million albums sold, the soul singer would still be headlining national tours—but Mary J Blige continues effortlessly. Performing the many hits accumulated over the years, Mary J Blige easily offers 1.5 hours of liberation.
