March 6, 2013
Mary J. Blige has a brand new look.

The multi-platinum recording artist was spotted in a stunning blonde Afro wig, on Tuesday.

The big-hair transformation was for a gospel musical the 42-year-old was filming in New York.

The movie, titled Black Nativity, is a re-telling of the Bible's nativity story and co-stars Jennifer Hudson, Angela Bassett and Forest Whitaker.
Blige, who has won nine Grammy awards over the years, lends both her vocal and acting talents to the upcoming musical.

The My Life singer-songwriter told BlackFilm in January: 'I just got a part for a movie called Black Nativity. I play Platinum Fro and she’s an angel.'
And apparently this particular angel has a striking sense of style.

For her role as Platinum Fro the Billboard topping R&B artist wore - in addition to her blonde wig - a steel grey trench-coat, turtleneck, and grey gloves.
Her well-toned physique was wrapped up in brown pants and a pair of knee-high brown boots.

The Rock of Ages star completed her funky get-up with a multicolored head-wrap and large gold hoop earrings.

This is not the first film Blige has appeared in.

The Be Without You singer starred in Tyler Perry's box-office hit I Can Do Bad All By Myself.

She has also received two Golden Globe nominations for her musical contributions to the films Bobby and The Help.
